the Vienna-Oxford International Corpus of English
Between 2005 and 2011, I was part of the research team who built the Vienna-Oxford International Corpus of English (VOICE), a one-million word corpus of spoken English as a lingua franca (ELF) interactions. Since its first release in 2009, VOICE has been used as an open-access resource by thousands of scholars for research and teaching worldwide.
VOICE XML and the part-of-speech tagged version of VOICE (VOICE POS XML) are available for download and as open-access online corpora. Detailed information on the VOICE project, which ran from 2005 to 2013, can be found here. The VOICE Online interface is currently being updated and expanded as part of the VOICE CLARIAH project.
The compilation of VOICE was funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF in the Translational-Research Program grant scheme (Grant no. L 116 and L448, principal investigator: Barbara Seidlhofer).
